Jeannette
Reeves
Jeannette R. Reeves was born in Keyser, West Virginia. She attended West Virginia University, home of the "Mountaineers," where she graduated with a B.A. in Social Work and a minor in Sociology. During her undergraduate career, she was inducted into Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi national honoraries and was chosen as Ms. Mountaineer. She also served as a member of the university's student government, being named "Outstanding Governor" in 1999. Ms. Reeves graduated summa cum laude and was bestowed the honor of becoming a member of Order of Augusta, which is the University's highest distinction given to a maximum of eight graduating seniors.
Ms. Reeves graduated from WVU School of Law in 2002. While in law school, she participated in the school's Clinical Law Program, which allowed her to provide legal representation to indigent clients.
She began her legal career in Charleston, West Virginia, with the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC, as a litigator. Ms. Reeves concentrated her practice in vehicular accident defense and premises liability defense. While at Steptoe & Johnson, she volunteered for the Lawyer Information Services at the West Virginia State Bar. She was also a guest editorialist in the West Virginia Bar Association's 2003 fall edition of The Communique.
In January, 2004, she, and her husband J. Lamont Reeves, moved to Shelby, North Carolina and she joined the law firm of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert, PLLC. In July 2004, Ms. Reeves passed the North Carolina bar exam and is now engaged in active practice, focusing on social security disability law, family law and personal injury law. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Cleveland County Bar Association and the West Virginia State Bar.
